With or without your Booties
When in doubt, bling it out!
There are booties, and there are ‘booties’. Before you reach for your phone and call out “discrimination”, just bear in mind we’re talking about what’s on your feet, not your behind.
Velotoze is a new kind of bootie. Firstly, there’s no zip, nor velcro in sight. It’s a one-piece, slip on and slip off cover that comes in all the most fashionable colours. Alas, the size we need in team colours – red, is currently out of stock, but we’ve been in comms with the Velotoze Team, and not only will they be restocking, but they inform us that a UK distributor will supplying them to your LBS. We do hope it will be soon. Additionally, we’re happy to hear that they can also do custom designs.
Can I kick it?
Possibly, is the answer. Without having a pair on, we can’t speak frankly about the Velotoze booties. However, there are some clear concerns which, to fair, are covered in their FAQ’s. Without going too far, so early on, the concerns we’d have include, but not restricted to: effectiveness; longevity; latex issues and postage from the US or Asia to the UK. However, having seeing them in the flesh, on Najib’s feet, during the Festive500, I couldn’t help my give them a double-take. Not only do they look stellar, Najib looked happy and warm in them. Hopefully, as popularity and investment grows, Velotoze will propel the bootie market into a new era. In the mean time, this is how they do it…
How to do it the Velotoze way:
With the British weather being predictably bad, the good news is that you can always smile when donning your kit. Like they say, “When in doubt, bling it out!”
We’re looking forward to trying a pair on. Thanks to Najib and Nick at Velotoze for keeping us hooked up. Come on rainy Sunday’s! (Update: read the full review – ‘Rubbers for you feet‘)
The club does not have any involvement with Velotoze. We simply like the idea.
