I took this image and it’s terrible. Yes, in some ways it tells a story, but it lacks any focus and won’t win any prizes, or help us prove anything had there been an accident. Thankfully, there’s Fly6. Taking safety and image quality to another level is this latest innovation from Australia.
Perth based creators, Fiegert and Hagen propose a two-pronged approach in keeping cyclists safe: a rear-light with a built in HD camera.
With Shimano entering the market of action-cameras, Fly6 offers something quite extraordinary. Often considered an after-thought, our rear safety becomes paramount to the Fly6 team. This light-camera, will not only shoot a 5 hour loop, but based on their very own footage, does extremely well in capturing cycling friends in action!
The Fly6 way:
But that’s not the only thing. The Fly6 is packed with innovations such as nano-technology that repels water and a rotating LED; both unique to the market.
At a proposed price range of around £90, this could very well be an attractive choice for all cyclists, and not just action junkies, or keeping people mindful of their actions. Imagine, filming rides: family, friends, commutes, races and even the descents of your favourite alpine mountains; the creative possibilities are endless!
Naturally, we want this to work in the dark. Seeing as in the UK, we live half the year in it, or travel through it. Much of the field testing has been in the sunny southern hemisphere, but this is the latest video we could find filmed at dusk:
Not bad considering that GoPro’s light-sensitivity only made serious modifications recently, and at a considerable cost to consumers.
We really like this idea, and hope to be using it soon. If you think this is a good idea too, or believe it would encourage confidence in people to enjoy their ride, then go help Fiegert and Hagen out. Their Kickstarter page is now open. Go show them your support.
