Today is the one we’ve been waiting for: Stage 15 of the 100th Tour!
For the London Baroudeurs it is part of the race we have been quietly anticipating. Nearly 5 years ago an intrepid band of brothers set out to southern France in search for this infamous mountain. Tales of Tom Simpson, and of legends before inspired us. The trip to our base and the handing over of the keys at the last possible minute also stand out in memory. The dark-picture on the front is when we scaled the mountain by night. We were young, we were foolish, we were searchers. And hopefully we still are.
So once again, we raise our glasses, sticks and wheels. We wait patiently for those who climb, but moreover we cheer. Whoever wins on this Bastille Day, it does not matter.
It matters that today is Ventoux day. It is a day to celebrate. A day to discover. And a day to do battle.
This is what Ventoux can do. First time. All the time.
