Meet your Police Constable
Ever since it’s inception, the collaboration of clubs that make up the Regent’s Park Cyclists has sought to not just be present within the community, but very much part of it. From raising funds for 100 new cherry trees, to supporting ‘Kidical-Mass‘, the park is for everyone to enjoy. So it was with much delight to welcome our new dedicated Police Constable (PC) Rebecca England over a tea and Danish at the local cafe.

Why so serious?
Actually it isn’t a serious affair; far from it. Rolling into the park on their bikes, many of the clubs that make up RPC, enjoyed a good session of morning laps with Sergeant Clarke; who besides being a committed policeman, also enjoys competitively racing his fabulous Cinelli.

In the know
The timing couldn’t be any better. By 0830, as the unexpected downpour made itself well and truly at home over London, those squeezing out an extra lap found themselves scuttling in for shelter. Those who were not aware of the meeting were soon grabbing a chair to sit in and discuss with our two neighbourly officers. Even local residents and dog-walkers joined the table.

Just the beginning
Everything from personal introductions, to CS11, close-passing, and police objectives were discussed. And by 0930, when it was all meant to wrap up, people were still finding themselves meeting RPC members they hadn’t met before, and bouncing ideas with PC England and Sergeant Clarke. A few of the notable conversations included: having a 163 initiative to raise awareness of what the law and safety actually advises on sharing the road; as well as getting a wider representation of users on the quarterly meetings with the Royal Parks Police.
