Keeping the Winter at bay
Riding to King’s Lynn is an fascinating journey. A mix of: suburbs; sharp-climbs through north London; open roads, seemingly used only by cyclists; quintessential English villages; emptiness and gales that want to knock you off your bike.
Add to this freezing conditions that create snowflakes to your eyelashes. Icing up your bidons, spoke blades and even your brakes, it doesn’t make it a pleasant 120+ mile adventure.
Alas, our three brave Baroudeurs, who clearly have a lot of time on their Sunday’s, didn’t make it all the way. Instead, they did the smart thing: enjoyed a family meal in north London, followed by an extended family time, and yes, another meal in Ely. Now, that’s the way to do it!
Here for each other
It’s always good to see ‘The Bear’, ‘DC’ and ‘This Ain’t No Disco’, head out and brave the weather. Only sorry I couldn’t join them as this such a good route. These conditions aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, so it’s good to know the men have come home safe and smiling. It’s forecast to be like this for weeks to come. There seems to be no escaping the chills, but there’s always a Baroudeur out to motivate each rider.
Let’s all be careful out there!
