Cycling Name?
Chairman Yoda
Why do you ride your bike?
I love being fit and active. I enjoy a bit of competition and the sick feeling before a big race. It makes you feel alive.
Favourite place to ride?
At first light Regent’s Park is the best place to ride, day to day in the world. Outside of that Lee Valley Velodrome, Cape Town and Mallorca are right up there.
Up or down mountains?
I enjoying big climbs, it’s such a personal battle when you are on your limit.
Best moments?
But I also like the Regent’s Park East Side Drag at 50kph leading out the Baroudeurs for a quick lap.
How long does it take you to change a flat?
Change a flat? Na. I have people for that. Although this morning I got it done and joined the group by the time they finished the lap, so about 6 minutes.
Advice to a new cyclist?
Get on the track induction sessions at Herne Hill, or Lee Valley.
Grand Tours or Classics?
I just love all bike racing.
Gels or potatoes?
Frappu-chappu-chino Gels.
Headwind or rain?
Head-down in a headwind
Disc or rims?
Old School Rims
I wish I had been told that…
To get a coach earlier. It’s the best cycling money I have ever spent.
What advice would you give someone wanting to join the Bs?
Keep it cool, ride well and buy a round of coffees.
GC prediction for Le Tour?
I would like to see Yates win it.
What’s cycling got for you in 2021
For the last year or so, I have been focused on the Pursuit. My objective is to win the World Masters Title in LA. But equally, having a good tear up with my mates in the park is still the number 1 focus.
