I never had the privilege of knowing Sophie but when I first read about the Sophie Clarke 270 Challenge through the weekly Savills newsletter, it really stuck out to me. Seeing all of the love and support shared by her family and friends said a lot about her character and what an incredible person she must have been.
As February marks the month Sophie would have turned 27, the goal of the challenge is to get as many people as possible to cover the distance of 270km over the course of the month, in her honor. In that respect, I am pledging to cycle 270 kilometers (168 miles) on Saturday 27th February around London’s famous Regent’s Park Outer Circle (that’s 61.3 laps!) in memory of Sophie to complete the challenge.
My decision to get involved is to ultimately raise awareness towards mental health and suicide prevention. My target is to raise £1,000 which supports UK charity the Sea Sanctuary – one of the world’s leading exponents of blue health, the concept that ‘blue spaces’ such as the sea are beneficial for mental and emotional wellbeing.
Please note that preparations and planning are being undertaken to ensure compliance with the current government rules and guidelines during lockdown, in order to successfully complete the challenge
Thank you for your time. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact myself or members of the Sophie Clarke foundation for further details.
Chapeau!
