Tell us about your ride with StrongHer
It’s an organised ride originally set up by Marianne Vos. The ride brings women together, riding from the Netherlands to Paris. This is the first ride from London to the French Capital.
What was it like?
The weather was good. 80 miles a day, I can do, it’s fine; but when you cycle that over 4 days. You don’t realise how it all adds up and how hard that is.

What motivated you?
There it is

What tested you the most?
I hate hills! Riding the stretch from London to Dover; I had no idea there was so much climbing. If you don’t find a rhythym, you just need to get on with it. I really didn’t know if I could do the next day. As it turns out, I was okay.

Whast was your most exhilerating moment?
The last day, cos we knew it was coming. It was really good fun! We were averaging ridiculous speeds of 40mph+. We’d chase and attack each other. Re-group, then attack again.

Would you recommend people doing a group ride like this?
Yes, totally. It’s really good fun. At a smaller scale, it gives you an idea of what the pros do. You don’t just need to know how to ride a bike, you need to be fit and get used to your bike. I’d recommend a good bike fit and a saddle that’s right for you.

What has the StrongHer experiene inspired you to do next?
To get on my bike more! The fitness level on this ride is strong. It’s inspired me to go out riding more in the week – t’s something we can all do.
