Name? Becks
Do you have a cycling name and if so, what is it and why? Yet to be tarnished with one…(Boony sounds good 😉
What do you do when you’re not riding a bike? Run, swim, or plan the next cycling adventure
What’s your cycling history? Since as far back as I can remember I have owned a bike and have always loved the sense of freedom and possibility that being on it brings, especially as a kid growing up when it was the only available mode of transport to escape the small village I lived in! I bought my road bike back in 2011 and it is still my pride possession. We have taken on many challenges together, triathlons, sportifs, but most notably last summer when I cycled 4272 miles coast to coast across America. Best experience of my life to date, bar none. I joined the Baroudeurs on my return to London – drawn in by the catchy tag line “A cycling club for friends and heroes.”
What have been best and favourite cycling moments? Tough question, dipping my front tyre in the Atlantic Ocean will always be up there but also beating all my male cycling companions to the top of Whiteface Mountain, (3,566 feet of climbing in 7.9miles) – and being welcomed by spectacular views…not that I am competitive or anything and completing my first century ride from Baildon in Yorkshire to Scarborough with two great friends on a cold February day!
