Wool is cool, and in so many ways. If you’re an outdoorsy person, you’ll know that once wet, cotton kills, yet wool won’t let you down. Thanks to their popular demand, almost everything is available in wool these days; from: beanies; gloves; base layers; SSJ/LSJ; arm warmers; knee warmers; leg warmers and socks. You get the idea.
And yet, the return of the ‘wooly-jean’ is only now making a comeback. According to the fun-loving designers at Howies, denim mixed with wool is not an original, but they’re happy to bring it back to the 21st century.
A jean made with wool isn’t a new idea. In fact, the original ‘toile de Nimes’ (the French cloth woven in the 16th century which is the origin of denim as we know it) was made from 100% wool, not cotton.
I have a Ventile jacket of theirs, with wool lining, and if their jeans are half as good as that, then they’re onto a good thing. Besides, it’s just as nice to treat our lower-halfs to the marvels of wool. Howies do them both in a Men’s and Ladies specific fit.
Mrs. can I please have these for Christmas?
