Have you ever watched the national weather on TV, and seen Kings Lynn on the map? You can’t help but notice its presence. It clearly stands north-east of London, and directly to the left of the weather forecaster for the evening.
Big Chase nominates this as our destination of choice for Sunday’s ride. Why? Well, it sounds like a good idea at the time: nice weather; a tail-wind to whisk us up there in time for lunch; family en route, with a pair of rabbits, to say hello to; and the chance to say “Yes, I’ve been to Lynn!”
The ride takes us through north London, Hertfordshire; onto Cambridgshire, and forwards towards Norfolk; Nelson’s County. It’s a warm day with plenty of sunshine. The roads are satisfyingly smooth as if from another planet made just for cycling. In honour of this incredible route, we decide it will be forever be known as the ‘Big Chase!’
