We’re enjoying a cuppa after Poncherello and Big-Chase have led us on a crazy loop of Hertford, and out of the heath, like a Jaguar, comes a familiar runner who happens to be one of our friendly Baroudeurs…
Ed: “Hey Liz, what are you up to?”
Liz: “For my next adventure I am heading to the Amazon to run, wade and probably crawl at times my way over 200km through the jungle in an ultra marathon race in October. The race is 6 stages over 7 days with the longest stage 87km which will see us racing through the night and because it is a self sufficient race we will have to carry everything we need for the week with us as we take on the Jungle Marathon.
While battling the hot and humid climate we will also have to contend with wild boar, jaguars, tarantulas, snakes and of course the worst predator of all, mosquitoes.
I am sure I will ask myself in those deepest darkest hours of pain and misery WHY so I have decided to make this epic journey in aid of a very important charity which will give me a better reason to soldier on then because of some foolish notion I had that this would be really fun.
The charity I have decided to support is Sky Rainforest Rescue and the money raised will help protect the rainforest which is home to a tenth of the world’s known species, including rare and threatened animals like the jaguar
With your help I hope to raise £1500 and as incentive for you all to give generously, if I reach this target by the 28th of September then the below will be the outcome of my next visit to the hairdresser:
So please visit my Just Giving page to help protect the Jaguars’ home.”
Ed:”Wow, can we get you lunch?”
Liz: “Thanks, but I’m gonna keep on running. Will be riding again in October, just don’t forget to help me!”
As much as I’d love to see Liz donning this hairdo, I think it’s a great undertaking and hope we can all help. Run Jaguar, Run! – Ed
