I’m on foot and it feels very alien. My normal mode of transportation is nestling back at home and I’m on my way to pick up a new steed from the master craftsmen – Rob S. I have great expectations.
R.S. recently returned from his epic, and yes it is epic: sailing across the Atlantic, followed by a mostly solo cycle ride through the Americas. He’s learnt how to take care of himself, his crew and his kit. He’s learnt to survive and win. So if anyone can put together a sweet new ride, it will be him.
an opportunity to fulfil a dream and win gold yet again.
As I make my way to R.S., I spot a poster of World and Olympic Champion, Victoria Pendleton. In less than a month all eyes will be fixed on our capital, as we host the most anticipated of Olympic Games. For many it will be the road to so much more; for some, it will be the first opportunity to taste Olympic glory; for a select few, it will be an opportunity to fulfil a dream and win gold yet again.
We have truly Olympic expectations of Team GB. And why not? There has been no time like this: where sporting ambitions have aligned so well with personal dreams. We’ve had 64 years to look at what we do and figure out what it takes to win gold. I think most athletes will agree that it takes a team to get up each morning and do it again, and again and again; let alone make it to the podium.
So, I do have great expectations this summer. It won’t necessarily be a medal, but it will be an adventure. Thanks to a great team-mate and a good friend, Cheers Rob.
