It’s cycling, not football
If you do a quick search you’ll find GB teams listed for both genders in both the junior and under 23’s. Nothing strange here; after all, we’re passionate about supporting young talent. Just a sec, where on earth are our elite teams?
Is an elite GB absence the result of overstretching our very best on this summer’s Stage Tours and the Rio-Olympics? Did we not bother to enlist their talents, or as a result of Brexit, were we ever invited in the first place? Who knows? Well, perhaps you do. (Update) – the original video had been removed, but this updated one has the commentators discussing, and they don’t know either – see 11mins in.
And why is it, in the last few elite-women road races, has there been a distinct silence? It’s almost deafening. The video that was below (but has now been taken off air – surprise, surpirse) is of the last 2okm of an ‘elite’ race. Where’d everybody go?
Are our usually attentive commentators to be found snoozing, having a tea-break, or more worryingly, do the studios even care that these exciting opportunities are once again going to waste?
Thankfully, the French still value womens racing. Feel free to enlighten us in the comments section below.
