Cycling name? Valkyrie.
Why do you ride your bike? To keep fit and have fun.
Favourite place to ride? Richmond Park, but nothing beats the Alps.
Up or down mountains? Down.
Favourite climb? My stairs at the end of a ride – knowing I’ve had a great day out and looking forward to a nice cup of tea!
What song/tune/music goes through your head when you’re riding? ‘Keep on Running!‘ Bizarrely!
Best moments? Riding into Brighton on a sunny day, and having fish-and-chips on the sea-front. The first time I did Box Hill was a great achievement for me, but it’s not always about being on the bike – we saw the Tour go through Yorkshire on Holme Moss. Camping the night before, then getting up early and cheering them on was a delight. Especially since I’m a Yorkshire lass!
How long does it take you to change a flat? I’ve never changed one.
Advice to a new cyclist? Get a bike that you’re proud of. My bike is red and I love it.
Steel, carbon or Ti? Steel. I’m a classic girl.
Grand Tours or Classics? Classics, I guess. But, I like them all.
Gels or potatoes? Hmmm, I like sweets – so probably gels.
Headwind or rain? Headwind. Can’t stand riding in the rain.
I wish I had been told that… Going out with a cycling fanatic is a serious business!
What is it like being a Baroudeur? Mix it up with the Baroudeurs and you will have a ball.
Where do you want to take your cycling? To Italy. Give me Italy!
