Do you have a cycling name? If so, who gave it to you and why? Viking – for dropping several riders on a French Alp like a blazing light.
What do you do when you’re not riding a bike? I roller-skate
What bicycles do you own and, importantly, why do you own them? A red one and a grey one, because I like the colours and the shiny frames.
What’s your cycling history? I cycled up and around Alpe d’Huez this year. Conquered Box Hill 3 times, Brighton once, whilst going past some of the guys in the group, and I regularly ride around the parks.
What have been your favourite and worst moments on a bicycle? Riding into Brighton on a sunny day, and having fish-and-chips on the sea-front. The first time I did Box Hill was a great achievement for me, but it’s not always about being on the bike – we saw the Tour go through Yorkshire on Holme Moss. Camping the night before, then getting up early and cheering them on was a delight. Especially since I’m a Yorkshire lass!
Coming off my bike, with a lorry fast approaching from behind.
Not getting out of my cleats in time.
Sore bits all over, my first long distance ride. All very scary moments, that thankfully, have not happened since.
